Metro line 4 runs straight through central Paris to Porte d'Orléans, via Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, Châtelet, Saint-Michel, Montparnasse and Denfert-Rochereau. Tram T3a stops at Porte d'Orléans too.

From Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)

Alternatively, take Orlyval to Antony, then RER B to Denfert-Rochereau and Metro line 4. A taxi takes about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

  • Gare de Lyon (Lyon, Marseille, south-east France) and Gare Saint-Lazare (Normandy): take Metro line 14 to Châtelet, then Metro line 4.

Tickets and getting around

  • Navigo 1-Day Pass: unlimited Metro, RER, tram and bus travel for the day. It doesn't cover airport trains.
  • Airport ticket: for journeys to and from CDG or Orly.

By taxi

Use the official taxi ranks at airports and stations, or a licensed ride-hailing app. Official taxis charge fixed fares between the airports and Paris.

Fares and routes can change. Please check the current information with Île-de-France Mobilités and your airline before travelling.

Where to Stay

Participants book and pay for their own accommodation. We recommend booking early, as Paris is busy in spring.

About Paris

Paris is one of Europe's great centres of learning, culture and science, home to world-renowned universities, research institutes, museums and libraries. From the Latin Quarter to the banks of the Seine, the city rewards visitors who add a few hours of exploration to their conference days.

Registration for in-person participants includes a free guided tour of Paris.

Practical Information

Currency

France uses the euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted and ATMs are easy to find, but it’s useful to carry some cash for small purchases, cafés and markets.

Power Outlet

France uses plug types C and E. Plug type C has two round pins, while type E has two round pins with a hole for the socket’s grounding pin.

The standard voltage is 230V with a frequency of 50Hz.

Medication

If you are taking prescription medication, it’s recommended to bring enough for your entire stay. French regulations allow travelers to carry personal medication for their own use.

However, you should carry a copy of your prescription and keep medicines in their original packaging. Importing medicines by mail to private individuals is generally restricted.

Visa and Entry

France is part of the Schengen Area. Nationals of many countries can visit France without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Travellers who need a Schengen visa must apply before they travel.

Check the current requirements, including the EU Entry/Exit System and ETIAS travel authorisation, on the official France-Visas website.
